Back on the road again from Monument valley to Jackson Hole Wyoming.
Jackson Hole is a great base for both the Teton Range and the south entrance to Yellowstone Park. When we arrived in late April, the Teton trails and Yellowstone were still closed. They usually open up in early May.
We went to see the Elk that overwinter just outside Jackson Hole. Thousands of Elk use this as thier winter refuge, before moving back to the high meadows in early spring.
We arived just in time to see the remaining Elk start to migrate back into thehigh meadows.
This picture shows the leading bunch of Elk. The herd can stretch back a good half mile. They appear to follow a leader who sets the pace and the direction of Travel. When this elk stops they all do.
